Beskrivelse

Reflective Walk – David Nzinga We welcome David Nzinga to guide Liljevalchs’ visitors through a journey of in-depth and personal reflection on the exhibition When We See Us: A Century of Black Figuration in Painting. He will use a selection of ten images as a starting point for a conversation at the intersection of art, experience and identity. This event is part of the ongoing curatorial programming by Southnord, a platform ampliying Black and Afro-Nordic artists, for the exhibition. Through his observations, Nzinga opens up for reflections on vulnerability, love, heritage and the layers of stories that shape our lives. It is a walk that moves beyond the visual into the emotional; an invitation to see, feel, experience and be in dialogue with the works and with each other. Participants are welcome to converse, share thoughts and let themselves be moved by the moment. Together with David, a space for listening, reflection and articulating shared or diverging perspectives will be created. David Nzinga is a versatile filmmaker, actor, screenwriter, producer and lecturer. He is often invited to panels and industry talks where he shares his experiences on storytelling, creativity and representation in film and culture. As founder of DNZ Pictures, he runs both Swedish and international projects. In 2023, David made his mark as dramaturg for the opera Gustavia, one of the Royal Swedish Opera's most acclaimed modern productions and today considered a groundbreaking work for diversity within Swedish opera. He is also a board member of CinemAfrica, where he works to strengthen cultural exchange and build creative networks between the Nordics, Angola and the African diaspora.
