Description

Join us for an evening of musical conversation with Nelson Veras and Brice Soniano, as well as an appearance from special guest Cesar Joaniquet. Doors open at 19:30 and music will begin at 20:00. Feel free to join us for drinks and mingling after the show until 22:00. 25 years ago, Nelson and Brice met through mutual friends and collaborators, and found immediate musical chemistry, playing from dusk til dawn. For the past many years, they have honed their expertise separately, and are excited for the opportunity to perform together again. It is a rare pleasure for Nelson Veras to play here in Denmark, so do not miss the chance to hear him live! The name Conversations is inspired by the inquisitive back and forth the duo employs in their musical collaborations. Nelson and Brice play beyond their instruments' perceived roles - the bass as rhythm and structure, the guitar as melody - allowing a dynamic flow and exchange of energy, prioritizing poetry over structure, and making use of silence as well as sound. Nelson Veras is a highly regarded Brazilian jazz guitarist who has been based in France since 1992. Often nicknamed “the little prince of the guitar,” he gained early recognition after being featured in a film alongside Pat Metheny at the Marciac Jazz Festival. Nelson has played with the likes of Lee Konitz, Gary Peacock, and Keith Jarrett. He is acclaimed for his distinctive and highly technical style, incorporating an inherited mastery of rhythm and melody from Brazilian music alongside classical guitar techniques. Brice Soniano is a French contrabassist, now based in Denmark, Soniano’s career has been marked by collaborations with renowned artists such as pianist Harmen Fraanje, percussionists Toma Gouband, Levent Yildirim and Lionel Beuvens, saxophonists Joachim Badenhorst and Ben Sluijs. His work spans across diverse settings, from chamber ensembles, orchestral compositions to avant-garde improvisations.
