Description

** Come by UP for an inspiring afternoon, where the artists behind the works EURIDIKE and PARTNERS REVISITED invite us to an insight into their work, at the end of a week-long Tid i Rum (Time in space) residency. After the work-sharing, we serve coffee and tea in the UP foyer. Program:13.00-13:45: Worksharing in The Pit with Kind of Opera and the project EURIDIKE13:45-14.30: Worksharing in White Lab with Danske Dansehistorier and the project PARTNERS REVISITED14.30-15.00: Coffee and tea in the foyer About EURIDIKE - AN OPERA ABOUT THE VOICE OF COMMUNITY by Kind of Opera The project is based on the classical myth of Eurydike, but retells it from a feminist perspective and with a radical scenic and musical language. What does a world without endings sound like? A musical community without hierarchies? Can opera as a form be opened up to a cyclical, improvisational and collaborative structure, where the audience's experience is sensory and resonant rather than narrative and linear?  In Tid i Rum, fundamental artistic and conceptual approaches to a new experimental opera are explored and developed, placing the voice of the community at the centre – musically, dramaturgically and thematically. Tid i Rum will be a working framework for a series of workshops, where singers and possibly a small ensemble are invited to participate in the early exploration of form, sound and dramaturgy. About PARTNERS REVISITED - A CHOREOGRAPHIC REFLECTIONby Danish Dance StoriesThe project explores how archival material from two historical duets can form the basis for a choreographic reflection with partnership as its focal point. The work explores the form of a scenic installation in which archival material from two historical performances – ‘FASE’ (1982) by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker (BE) and ‘Partners’ (1984) choreographed by Graziella Hsu (DK) – are exhibited and activated through live performance, dance, music, lighting and curated conversations. Choreographer and dancer Carolina Bäckman is behind the concept in collaboration with dancer Andrea Deres. The focus during the residency at Tid i Rum will be on method development as well as a new, exciting collaboration with composer and percussionist Ying-Hsueh Chen will be initiated.
