FOREVER LOOPHOLES is inviting adventurous audiences to join Dansk Danseteater at the secretive and intriguing landscape of SLUSEN in Sydhavn where the water, the forest, the house boats, the abandoned old cabins and small community gardens meet in a melting pot of sounds, people, dust and industry. Come and get an insight into how emerging choreographers work site specific in this 90 min choreographic walk by Joana Öhlschläger, Leticia Silva, Hilde Ingeborg Sandvold and Wolf Govaerts.
#1 Hilde Ingeborg SandvoldREVEAL REVEAL! We show you what is hidden, what lies underneath, what exists beside. A journey through the dancers’ ability to notice, immediately embody, and notice anew. A mapping of their inner landscapes in constant relation to the outer world — an endless loop of sensing, doing and undoing. The dance unfolds in a space that keeps getting tighter.
Once, it was vast and silent — inhabited only by the man operating the lock, his family, and their chickens. The city was far away. Then industry arrived. Bridges connected the area to the mainland. A highway bridge was built. Apartment buildings came. The metro came. People started passing through at all hours.
The silence fractured.
You can barely hear it now: a thin thread suspended between the chirps of birds, drowned by the constant noise of the highway, gunshots from the nearby shooting range, tools, cars, bikes — the endless crunch crunch crunch of gravel beneath your feet.
Amid all of this, we try not to become paralyzed.
«Om aftenen smelter ansigtet og lander i sofaen».
#2 Wolf GovaertsPreliminary observations suggest that prolonged isolation within the dense anthropogenic environment surrounding the sluices of Sydhavn may have resulted in remarkable anatomical and behavioural adaptations within a peculiar species of even-toed ungulates (Cervidae), enabling them to thrive in a habitat previously considered incompatible with arboreal life. Wolf Govaerts ventured into the small patch of forest between the crossroads and community gardens to research these elusive creatures, which inhabit the trees in search of the berries that grow high within the canopy. Be ready to experience Sydhavn’s mysterious residents.#3 Leticia SilvaMy interest in the Sydhavnen Slusen comes from understanding it as a space where infrastructure and nature converge. Although it regulates the flow between the harbor and the sea, it also enables new forms of life to emerge within an artificial landscape reclaimed from the water through landfill and dredged materials. I am especially interested in how places like the hill at Havneslusen Nord have been colonized by both expected and unexpected species, creating tensions between what is planned and what is unpredictable. These unexpected presences evoke the flow of everything carried by wind, water, animals, and people: forces that continuously reshape and transform the landscape.#4 Joana ÖhlschlägerIn an undulating landscape shaped by the desire to meet and dare the physical forces of nature, a group of dancers cross. Here they channel the multiple ghosts of movement that inhabit this place: speed, noise, impact, hidden visitors, a breeze, a sprinkle, mud, crust, dust, now a dance, then an aftermath.
Under the work title DESIRE PATH they investigate the dances that dance them, in the unstoppable motion of body weight meeting gravity, erosion and pace. They lead by the question "What is already present?“ and the consequential overload, paired with desire as a motor that takes them new directions and off the tracks. Eyes on the path, keep on falling into the now.
MORE ABOUT THE PROJECTThis project is part of Dansk Danseteater's talent development program DRIVHUS: Choreographic Exercises, supported by the Augustinus Foundation. For this project, Dansk Danseteater has moved out of their regular base at the Opera and into the local community of SLUSEN. 4 emerging choreographers have been invited to work with Dansk Danseteater's dancers to create an exciting journey for the audience through different locations around SLUSEN. Each choreographer has worked with their own site-specific research and choreographic practice to activate a location on the site with a group of dancers from the company. All 4 events are stringed together into a 90 minute walk through SLUSEN, full of surprises, twists and turns - each of them opening the audiences eyes to new details, stories, landscapes and horizons.MEETING POINT FOR AUDIENCES: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jYhon8hnvm7F6Syq8?g_st=ic ACCESSIBILITY:Please note that this is a walking experience.
