Beskrivelse

You are invited into the workspace to experience raw performing arts in process. This WORKSHARING marks the culmination of a 2-weeks residency, during which three artists have explored and developed scenic ideas.  THE ARTISTIC RESEARCHThe group is investigating the dynamic relationship between textiles, bodies, and environmental elements as vehicles for exploring memory and impermanence. Their research focuses on material exploration by testing large-scale interactions between Kiyoshi’s textiles and multiple performers in a controlled environment before transitioning to unpredictable outdoor contexts. Environmental dynamics by creating controlled wind experiments using fans to observe how textiles and bodies respond to external forces, which will inform later interventions in public space. And examining how different lighting conditions affect the relationship between textiles and bodies, and how this interplay alters perceptions of space and memory. Their investigation allows the group to develop a physical vocabulary that translates concepts of remembering and forgetting into tangible movement patterns, testing ideas in controlled environments first, and building trust in improvisational structures that can adapt to different public spaces. During the residency, they’ll explore three movement qualities - preservation/clinging, negotiation, and release - each tied to a way of relating to memory. They will test dramaturgical structures with small audiences, refine public space strategies through practice, and experiment with documenting the ephemeral. This focused process links Valentina’s earlier project "Synthesis" to the group’s upcoming large-scale collaboration, balancing artistic innovation with meaningful public accessibility. ABOUT THE ARTISTS Valentina Martinez Mariscal´s (she/her) practice is rooted in highlighting our everyday life through movement, presence, and choreography. As a dance artist and co-creator, she increasingly explores dance's critical role in relation to notions of impermanence, somatic experiences, belonging, inclusion, and community. She has experience with participation and intercultural dialogue through art and culture, as well as production of relational and choreographic artworks with a participatory and inclusive aspect. Kiyoshi Yamamoto (they/him) lives and works in Bergen. For many years, Yamamoto has been deeply inspired and influenced by the artist and textile designer Anni Albers. Albers' thoughts, ideas, art, and position in art history have had great significance for Yamamoto's work. Albers used the textile industry in a way that allowed her to produce large and multiple works based on the same visual and tactile formal language. This has influenced Yamamoto's approach to his work, and he sees no contradiction in something industrial also being unique and purely artistic. Keira Forde (she/they) is a multidisciplinary performer, creator, and community arts producer who has been working in culturally relevant pedagogy and arts for over nine years. Keira’s artistic contribution has focused on amplifying stories for people in Toronto who are under the youth category (under 30) through various works as a performer, producer, sound artist, arts educator, and coordinator. Keira currently serves as the community arts coordinator for Toes For Dance, focusing on building diverse and sustainable dance communities in Ontario, Canada. TICKETSParticipation in is free, but please book your ticket as seats are limited.
