The Mousetrap Story

Teater Nu invites Teatar Mladih Mišolovka, a youth-driven theatre group founded and based in Novi Sad, Serbia. The performance The Mousetrap Story highlights personal experiences of what it means to be young, and especially what it means to be a young artist in Serbia today. Blending shadow theatre, dance, and improvisation, the piece features Petra Protić, Emilija Vasović, and Vasilije Zečević on stage, and is directed by Ibro Sakić. “With this performance, we want to use personal stories about the lack of space, time, and dignified working conditions to paint a broader picture of what it means to be a young artist in Serbia.” – Petra Protić, Teatar Mladih Mišolovka Created through a collective dramaturgical process involving actors, a playwright, a theatre educator, and a director, The Mousetrap Story carries a documentary tone and tells the story of the birth of a small independent theatre for children and young people in Serbia. It is a love story—for art, for others, and for life itself. At its core, it is about finding oneself through art and refusing to give up despite the hardships life brings and the roles it imposes. The Mousetrap Story had its world premiere in Jesi, Italy, where it was co-produced by Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini and Teatar Mladih Mišolovka as part of the project TESTART, co-financed by Creative Europe. Teater Nu is delighted to host the Swedish premiere in Gothenburg and extends its gratitude to the TESTART project and the coordinator Consorzio Marche Spettacolo for making this possible.
